Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen M. Nielsen said at a March 6 congressional hearing that "we are on track to encounter close to 1 million illegal aliens at our southern border this year".

"As president, the protection of the nation is my highest duty", Mr Trump said on Friday.

"Today I am vetoing this resolution".

Trump was flanked by border officials and people whose relatives were killed by someone who was in the United States illegally. "I'll let them know when there's pressure and I told them that so when I need your vote, I'm going let you know".

She later apologized to her almost 2 million subscribers. "They definitely have a formula and you do have to follow the formula". Meanwhile, she's been roasted on her social media and in scathing online reviews for her sold-out makeup palette.

The resolution passed the GOP-controlled Senate by a vote of 59-41 - with 12 Republicans defying the president - after it was approved by the Democrat-controlled House. Twelve Republican senators joined Democrats in rejecting the president's emergency declaration.

Mr. Trump wasted no time countering, tweeting soon after, "VETO!"

The Republican senators who rebuked Trump were unwavering in their justification, saying Thursday they viewed the unilateral move as unconstitutional and creating a risky precedent for future presidents. "Watch, when you get back to your State, they will LOVE you more than ever before!" he said.

Trump, however, insisted the situation on the southern border is "a tremendous national emergency", adding, "our immigration system is stretched beyond the breaking point".

Media Avoids Obvious Reason Pelosi Has Cooled on Impeachment
In her first few months (again) as House speaker, Nancy Pelosi has managed two big challenges of the Trump era with great skill. We've seen the result when the House pursued impeachment despite the lack of consensus across the aisle for that action.

Had Trump not taken action in a timely manner, the decisive votes would have overturned all the effort he put into securing funding for the Wall's construction.

"We had a war against a king in the American revolution", said Sen. That resolution seeking to end US backing for the Saudi Arabian-led coalition fighting in Yemen was approved in the aftermath of the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul and is expected to be the subject of Trump's second veto.

Republicans, Pelosi said, "will have to choose between their partisan hypocrisy and their sacred oath to support and defend the Constitution". Last month, roughly 76,000 people tried, including 43,000 children and family members, many fleeing violence and poverty in Central America. Democrats deny there is an emergency at the border, saying border crossings are at a four-decade low. He explained the legality of Donald Trump's countermeasure.

"I think the basic premise of Mike [Lee's] bill is correct", Republican Senator Jerry Moran said Thursday. "They want to eliminate some of the barriers that are already there. They shouldn't even be suing, but they will because they always do".

All of the entrances to the Temple Mount were ordered closed following the attack to enable police to search for weapons. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas denounced the "dangerous Israeli escalation" and warned of "serious repercussions".

Trump originally declared a national emergency on the border last month after Congress granted only a fraction of the $5.7 billion he requested for a wall on the border.
