A source with intimate knowledge of the Jussie Smollett investigation tells CBS 2 Investigator Brad Edwards the attack on Smollett was potentially orchestrated by the actor himself and involved two other men.

Smollett, who is gay, has said he was walking to a Subway restaurant around 2 a.m. January 29 when he was attacked by two men who yelled racial and homophobic slurs, hung a rope around his neck and poured bleach on him. "He said "This MAGA country n****r" and he punched me in the face so I punched his a** back".

"Media reports of investigative details can not be confirmed at this time", spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.

The two men aren't considered suspects but may have been in the area when Smollett says he was attacked, police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said earlier on Thursday.

According to Mr. Elgas, citing a person "familiar with the investigation", the openly gay actor "was a no-show for an interview earlier today with detectives".

A spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department (CPD) described news reports as "unconfirmed, uninformed, and inaccurate". "All of this coming hours after Smollett spoke to ['Good Morning America'] speaking out in his first media interview taking aim at those who doubted his story". "They did", Smollett said, referring to his attackers. Guglielmi told The Associated Press that the two men are the same people shown walking in surveillance photos released by police the day after the attack was reported.

According to CWB Chicago, Smollett was also brought in Thursday morning for additional questioning and police have his complete phone records via a subpoena of his provider.

Smollett said they started tussling and ended up near some stairs, as a second person kicked him in his back.

The new information comes on the heels of a report from CBS Chicago that alleges police "raided the home of two persons of interest" on Wednesday night, with the outlet revealing that the men were of "Nigerian descent" and apparently "extras" on the show.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi will support the centre forward, with Alexandre Lacazette filling the said position. Arsenal's last clean sheet away from home came last season in May when Arsene Wenger was still in charge of the club.

He said he didn't remove the rope from around his neck before police arrived "because I wanted them to see".

Pamela Sharp, a spokeswoman for Smollett, said that the reports were "ridiculous rumors". "To know the power that they hold in their little pinkie".

The names of the two men have not been released and police have not found any video footage of the assault, which they say is being investigated as a hate crime.

"I just want young people, young members of the LGBTQ community, young black children to know how strong that they are", he said.
