"Congresswoman Omar's use of anti-Semitic tropes and prejudicial accusations about Israel's supporters is deeply offensive", said Pelosi and other House Democratic leaders.

She has faced criticism for weeks over her positions on the Jewish state.

The Democratic congresswoman shared a tweet late Sunday on House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy pledging to take "action" in response to her support for movements to boycott and sanction Israel over its treatment of Palestinians.

In response to a tweet on Sunday from a journalist questioning why USA political leaders always defend Israel, Ms Omar used a slang term for $100 bills, writing: "it's all about the Benjamins baby".

Muslim-American Congresswoman Ilhan Omar "unequivocally" apologised on Monday for a tweet criticising a pro-Israel lobbyist group, after the post prompted a pile-on of criticism from Republicans and many Democrats. "It's gone on too long and we must be willing to address it", Omar said.

The Chief Minister also continued his outburst at the Prime Minister, accusing him of ruining the country and all the systems. In Karnataka and Andhra, chief ministers Kumaraswamy and Naidu skipped the courtesy of receiving Modi at the airport.

Some have defended Omar and Tlaib, contending that critics are conflating the congresswomen's condemnation of the Israeli Government with anti-Semitism.

Minnesota DFL U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar is under fire for Twitter exchanges that Democratic allies, along with Republicans and Jewish organizations, are condemning as hateful and anti-Semitic.

When Tlaib used profanity on the day she was sworn in to threaten the president with impeachment, Pelosi said she has a "generational" aversion to such language, but she's "not in the business of censorship".

Today Omar became an inconvenience to the Democratic Party establishment.

Nadler called the tweets "deeply disappointing and disturbing" and said Omar "appears to traffic in old anti-Semitic tropes about Jews and money".

On Friday, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., urged Democratic leadership to admonish Omar and Tlaib due to their backing for the BDS movement, which is meant to put economic pressure on Israel to end its occupation of the West Bank.

Before apologizing Monday, Omar had doubled down on her comments Sunday night, calling criticisms a smear from the other party.

Omar's attempted apology drew stern criticism online with many notable figures noting that they did not believe her apology was honest or that she had actually learned anything.

Fellow freshman Democratic Rep. Max Rose of NY called the comments "deeply hurtful to Jews, including myself", according to Politico.

"As Democrats and as Americans, the entire Congress must be fully engaged in denouncing and rejecting all forms of hatred, racism, prejudice and discrimination wherever they are encountered". "There is absolutely no place for this rhetoric in Congress - or anywhere", New Jersey Democrat Rep. Josh Gottheimer tweeted.
