'Significant' support within Pelicans to resist Lakers, hope for Jayson Tatum

I guess we'll just have to see what, if anything, Davis, Rich Paul and Klutch Sports have left up their sleeve.

For his part, Davis has said he intends to play for the Pelicans as long as he remains on the roster, but that the team has "every right" to hold him out. The best chance Davis has to force his way to the Lakers is by creating a level of chaos and uncertainty in the marketplace about his privately stated wishes. They also appear hopeful that the Celtics would include Tatum in a deal for Davis, which could be true, but may not result.

When you look at the Celtics, it's hard to imagine a team this talented needing to make a trade, but when a player like Davis is available, you do what's necessary to get him.

With the 2019 National Basketball Association trade deadline just 48 hours away - Thursday, Feb. 7 at noon PT/3 p.m. ET - here's a whip around the web for the latest trade chatter. They reportedly want six-to-eight draft picks for Davis.

Ice Storm Warning issued for most of Chicago area Tuesday evening
Water and slush that have accumulated due to the current warm temperature are bound to freeze as the cold comes in this evening. Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for Waterloo region and Wellington county for all day Wednesday.

Also, the Pelicans could risk improving their draft status and costing themselves the ability to get a higher pick in the draft by bringing back the core of young Lakers players. That would be Danny Ainge and the Celtics, who continue to tell the Pelicans to wait for the summer when they can enter the mix and give them anything and everything they want for Davis. When the Pelicans were reportedly underwhelmed, the Lakers beefed up the deal Monday.

ESPN reported Monday that Davis has given the Pelicans a list with a "handful" of clubs where he would sign a long-term deal after a trade, saying it includes Milwaukee and does not include Boston. But I need all three of my boys on the court 'cause that's 60 percent of the team that's in to winning and not anxious about how much money they're going to make.

"Even if my son goes to New Orleans, you can't make him play", LaVar Ball said.

The February 7th deadline is fast approaching and the window for the Pelicans to move Davis this season is closing.

Theresa May has said she is "determined" to deliver Brexit on time, ahead of talks on the Irish backstop . However, EU officials have insisted that the deal is not open for renegotiation.

Acquiring the former first overall pick would have come at a lofty price, which is evident by the ongoing trade talks between the Pelicans and the Lakers.

A total of four picks - who can offer that?

Davis informed the Pelicans that he wouldn't sign a five-year, $239 million supermax contract this summer.
