Piers Morgan has said Prince Philip had a "lucky escape" after he was involved in a auto accident near the Sandringham Estate on Thursday.

Buckingham Palace said Friday that there was no update to the statement they released after the accident saying that he was "uninjured".

The 97-year-old royal was uninjured, although those who were on-hand said there was blood at the scene after Philip overturned his Land Rover following a collision with a Kia driven by a 28-year-old woman with a 9-month-old baby in the backseat.

The 97-year-old Duke of Edinburgh collided with a Kia at about 3pm, when he pulled out of a driveway onto the A149 in Babingley, Norfolk, just beside Sandringham.

Prince Philip escaped unharmed from Thursday's collision, which occurred as he was traveling near the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, the Palace said at the time.

Eyewitness Roy Warne has described how Philip asked if everybody was all right in the aftermath of an accident which saw his vehicle "tumbling" over the road.

Although other members of the royal family have returned to London to resume work duties, the Queen and Prince Philip usually have a longer winter break.

Russia’s trade with China surges to more than $107 billion
Washington was threatening even higher tariffs before Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed on a 90-day truce in December. The trade surplus with Washington was not the only record for Beijing in 2018, according to the released customs data.

"There will be some surprise that the duke still drives himself on public roads", BBC royal correspondent Jonny Dymond wrote in a commentary.

A source said: "The duke's routine in the coming days will continue as normal".

Norfolk Police said the force would investigate the crash, meaning the duke is likely to be interviewed by officers.

There were three passengers in the other auto, a Kia, including nine-month-old baby.

Earlier today, a delivery truck was spotted dropping off Philip's brand new replacement Land Rover Freelander. "It is weird. People don't believe they've experienced the event unless they've taken a photograph".

Warne was one of the first at the scene and said that he helped Philip from his auto.

Mr Warne, who was one of the first motorists on the scene, told The Sun newspaper he overheard Philip telling police he had been "dazzled by the sun".

Five die as terrorists storm Dusit D2 hotel in Nairobi
More than 700 civilians rescued from the building, but Mr Kenyatta did not clarify if people were still hiding in the complex. Kenyan security forces evacuate people after an explosion at DusitD2 hotel in Nairobi, Kenya , on Tuesday.

"And there was an elderly gentleman in there, otherwise known as the Duke of Edinburgh, and I helped him get out of the auto".

"I helped him move his legs which were a little trapped and a bit crushed, then I saw his face and I realized who it was", Warne said. "The other vehicle was well into the hedge on the opposite side of the road".

Retired barrister Roy Warne and grandfather Glenn Watson bravely rushed to help Philip out of the wreckage.

He said Philip was "asking if anyone was hurt".

"But it will be the Queen, she'll be the only person that can really tell him".

Buckingham Palace has been quick to clarify laws applying to the Duke's driving.

Currently, British drivers have to reapply for their licence at the age of 70, and every three years thereafter, by self-certifying their sight is good enough to read a numberplate at 20 metres, and that they have no medical condition that prevents them from driving.
