The Moon will turn red next week as Britain experiences its last total lunar eclipse for 10 years.

And the eclipse will occur when the Moon is at its closest point to Earth - making it a supermoon, so it will appear 14 per cent larger and 30 per cent brighter.

This means the moon will appear slightly larger in the sky.

And lastly is the 'Wolf Moon, ' a name given to the first full moon of the year.

"The total lunar eclipse will be the first visible in North America in three years".

When and how can you see the Super Wolf Blood Moon?

So what about the "super" part of Sunday's show in the sky? "In Native American and early Colonial times, the Full Moon for January was called the Full Wolf Moon", The Old Farmer's Almanac says.

According to NASA, The event will last about four hours, beginning at 9:36 pm ET Sunday, Jan. 20 and ending about 1:50 am ET Monday, Jan. 21.

It's hard to predict the exact hue of lunar eclipses, but whatever shade results can offer insight about the chemistry of the Earth's atmosphere.

The super blood wolf moon eclipse will occur at 12:12 a.m. ET on January 21, but you'll be able to watch the moon turn from white to orange in the hours beforehand. The reason there's any color to the eclipse - or to sunsets and sunrises, for that matter - is because red light makes it through our atmosphere better than blue light, and the light cast on the moon during an eclipse is light that's peeking around the edges of the Earth through our atmosphere.

Iran satellite in U.S. row fails to reach orbit: State media
Iran defied threats of sanctions from the United States and tried to launch a satellite. Jahromi wrote on Twitter that "Doosti is waiting for orbit", without elaborating.

In Britain the Moon will be above the horizon throughout the eclipse, though from the extreme southeast of England the Sun will have risen as it comes to an end.

"If you are lucky enough to be able to see the whole event, you can get a mental picture of the size of the Earth's shadow at the distance of the moon by watching the moon move against background stars". It all depends on how much dust is floating around in Earth's atmosphere at the time. If you decide to head out, look up and check it out, make sure to dress warm.

According to the Irish Astronomical Association, which is based in Northern Ireland, you won't need any special telescope to observe the eclipse, but a pair of binoculars will allow you to view the changing colours as it develops.

The next total lunar eclipse isn't expected to grace the skies until May 2021.
