After losing his two-stroke advantage after the fourth hole, Kuchar kicked things into high gear by birding six of his final 10 holes to finish off a four-under-par 66 that took him to 22-under at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu. After breaking a four-year winless streak at the Mayakoba Golf Classic in November, Kuchar now has the second multi-win season of his career.

Putnam, who won his first PGA Tour title last summer at the Barracuda Championship, didn't blink until that approach into the bunker that led to his lone bogey, and he couldn't make enough putts to stay close to Kuchar the rest of the way.

It was a further stroke back to Davis Love, who finished solo seventh with a 65 for 264. "If I just keep plugging along I know good things are going to happen".

The easygoing vibe in Hawaii is a flawless fit for Matt Kuchar, who spends as much as a month at a time on the islands when his schedule allows.

What does it mean? - The Norwegian is also the first manager in United's history to win his first six games in all competitions. It can be argued that, although he was impressive, none of the saves De Gea had to make on Sunday were particularly hard .

"Last year I probably ground harder than I've done in the past", he said.

He has made only one bogey through 54 holes at Waialae Country Club, and his 18-under 192 was the lowest 54-hole score of his career.

Putnam, who played college golf at Pepperdine and claimed his first PGA Tour victory past year in the Barracuda Championship, capped his 67 with an eight-foot birdie putt on the last hole. (68) and Marc Leishman (68) are also in the bunch at 11-under.

He'll be very comfortable over the next few weeks, remaining in Hawaii with his family for a two-week vacation. "That was fun. I felt like I was trying to win a golf tournament just to make the cut, which is not really something I want to get used to, but early in the season when I started the day 17 shots back, it was something where I could actually feel some pressure and make adjustments, too". Obviously a year ago was disappointing, but to win two out of three events is insane to comprehend.

Matt Kuchar hits from the 10th fairway during the second round of the Sony Open on Friday. "I know I can't coast".
