Earlier today, after news broke that the Browns were hiring Freddie Kitchens to take over the head coaching job full-time, Les Levine, who was filling in as a host on 92.3 The Fan's Baskin and Phelps, explained that the Browns meant to hire ex-Packer's head coach Mike McCarthy with the stipulation that he keep Kitchens on his staff as offensive coordinator.

Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein to resign soon
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is expected to leave his position soon after William Barr is confirmed as attorney general. The source said Rosenstein is not being forced out, and he has conveyed his thinking to the White House.

Kitchens served as the Browns' offensive coordinator from Week 8 on this past season, and oversaw improvement in the team's offense, sparked by increased reliance on Baker Mayfield and Nick Chubb. Kitchens, who was a three-year starting quarterback at Alabama, wasn't afraid to be creative as he used wide receiver Jarvis Landry on running plays and to throw passes, and he got major production from rookie running back Nick Chubb, left tackle Greg Robinson and receiver Breshad Perriman - three players under-utilized by Jackson and Haley. The interim head coach, Gregg Williams, meanwhile, lost out on both the top job and his defensive coordinator job, being fired Wednesday, according to ESPN.

Broncos coaching search down to two
Instead, the Bears' season ended earlier than expected and now the man Mack dubbed an "evil genius" will join Miller in Denver. From the time Pat Bowlen hired Mike Shanahan in 1995, the Broncos have had five head coaches. "I like how he does things".

As the team's success grew, Kitchens never campaigned to be Cleveland's coach but leading a team was always a goal. It appears he did enough to impress the front-office tandem of John Dorsey and Paul DePodesta and will come away with the job. That relationship could seal the deal for the Browns as they envision Mayfield being the franchise's face behind the facemask for the next decade. The 5-minute radio segment spearheaded by Jason Smith stresses the importance of attracting "established names like Mike McCarthy" to the Brown's once-vacant head coaching position. Kitchens endeared himself to his players with a no-nonsense approach, easygoing style and willingness to include them in decisions.

During Bongo's extended absence, new powers were granted to Gabon's vice president, Pierre-Claver Maganga Moussavou. However, he didn't look in good shape - as he slurred his speech and he appeared unable to move his right arm.

An official announcement from the Browns announcing Kitchens is expected later this afternoon. "Benjamin E. Mays said those who start behind in the game of life must run faster to catch up, and I feel like I've been running fast my whole life".
