Reports suggest Brahim has agreed a £60,000-a-week contract with the European champions, who have, crucially, guaranteed him a spot in the senior squad.

The club clearly rate the youngster high enough to bother installing this clause in the player's contract, though it does seem petty that City have tried to put Madrid off of selling Diaz to their crosstown rivals.

But, Real Madrid have prevailed in their bid to secure the services of the 19-year-old, although the transfer fee is yet unknown - different figures have been quoted in different sources.

Diaz, who joined the club in 2013 from his hometown club Malaga, is highly regarded by Pep Guardiola and his coaching staff but has often found first-team opportunities hard to come by with Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Riyad Mahrez ahead of him in the pecking order.

On Monday, Diaz passed his medical and was unveiled by the club during a press conference at the Santiago Bernabeu.

City have also negotiated a very interesting clause that impacts Manchester United.
