While Gyllenhaal has repeatedly brushed off the speculation, he released his first video on the social media platform on Wednesday, with the short clip showing him reading an issue of The Amazing Spider-Man with the caption, "I just realized I'm not playing Spider-Man".

The Oscar nominee has given in and joined Instagram, and if his first post is any indication, we expect a ton of adorableness over the coming months.

It's a amusing way to reveal his role - made funnier by the caption: 'I just realised I'm not playing Spider-Man, ' which is a nice nod to the time Gyllenhaal nearly replaced Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man 2 (Maguire injured his back before the shoot, Gyllenhaal trained to step into the role, but Maguire recovered in time). Plans could change or this could turn out to be another rumor, but it does seem like an interesting choice to show a trailer for a movie featuring a prominent Marvel character whose last words were "I don't feel so good" before disintegrating into ash at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.
