India strongly condemns Chabahar terror attack

At least two people were killed and many more injured in the terror attack outside police headquarters in Chabahar.

Rahmdel Bameri, a provincial official, told state TV that a suicide attacker driving a vehicle loaded with explosives drove up to the police headquarters. Authorities did not identify who was behind the attack, but Iranian media initially blamed the attack on Ansar al-Furqan, a Sunni jihadi group.

Jaish al-Adl (Army of Justice), a Sunni militant group that has carried out several attacks on Iranian security forces, mainly in Sistan-Baluchestan, claimed responsibility for an attack that killed 10 border guards near Pakistan in 2017.

Kim had been expected to visit Seoul in mid-December but the North asked for a delay citing internal affairs. Re-connection of train line are in progress with another rail which links across the border.


Videos posted online by Iranian news agencies, purportedly from Chabahar, showed thick smoke rising in the area after the blast.

"Foreign-backed terrorists kill & wound innocents in Chabahar". The perpetrators behind this dastardly attack should be brought to justice expeditiously.

Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli also issued a statement in condemnation of the Chabahar terror assault, saying the "savage attack" proved again that the "evil hegemonic system would spare no plot" to target the nation.

Chabahar lies in Sistan-Baluchistan near the border with Pakistan.

Chabahar is also the site of a port complex, which is being developed in cooperation with India as part of a new transportation corridor for landlocked Afghanistan.
