How sad is it that there is no sadness?

Urban Meyer will step down as Ohio State's football coach after the Buckeyes take on Washington in the Rose Bowl on January 1, the school announced Tuesday.

There were no heavy hearts; only cocked eyebrows.

But in this moment, seated next to each other on a small stage alongside athletic director Gene Smith on the day Meyer announced his retirement and Smith announced Day as Meyer's successor, it wasn't clear who was supposed to answer the question. But how much will Meyer be worth when he retires?

LeBron came out and said he's good friends with Meyer and is more concerned about his health than the veteran coaching staying on the sidelines trying to bring home another National Championship to Columbus.

Believe it or not, you can bet on whether Meyer will be the next Browns coach. "In this racket, it's best when you go out by your own choice". In 2014, Meyer helped his team take the title; he became one of only three college coaches to win major championships at two universities.

Despite the controversial blip in his career, Meyer easily had one of the most successful coaching careers of all time.

Haven't we seen this movie before? Within weeks after leaving UF (and getting a $1 million retirement bonus on his way out the door), he was traveling the country as a roving ESPN college football commentator.

Bitter rival MI finished second four times to Ohio State during that stretch.

It is probably unfair to expect anyone, including Meyer himself, to duplicate what he did in his seven seasons at Ohio State. But football is Meyer's life work, and how he'll be remembered for that work is important to him, as it should be. "When it turns out to not be the truth, that doesn't [put him] very high on my Christmas-card list". He later served as an assistant coach at Illinois State and Colorado State before working at Notre Dame for six years. Meyer will depart OSU after a season in which he was suspended for three games over his handling of domestic abuse allegations against an assistant coach. After a months-long investigation from 2015-16, no charges were filed. But Meyer spun them around and gave them eight wins during his first season and another nine wins the following season. "I followed my heart and not my head". However, you can not deny his greatness. He'd succeeded at Bowling Green, won 20 of 22 games at Utah and then won two national championships at Florida before walking away after the 2010 season. But the 54-year-old coach has previously cited health concerns.

Urban Meyer accepted the Florida job in December of 2004. I could tell you a zillion amusing stories about Spurrier; I don't have one I can tell you about Meyer.

For the most part, recruits have been receptive to Day's ascension to head coach.
