Washington pressures allied countries to drop Huawei

The fear has extended from simply using Huawei products in the United States, but also internationally, especially on US bases across the globe. Each country has imposed tariffs on the other's products and threatened more. And while that's a pretty big blow to Huawei, things may be getting worse if a new report from The Wall Street Journal evolves into action from certain countries.

It is noted that the relevant talks, us officials are politicians and heads of large companies in Germany, Italy and Japan.

The US's current outreach initiative coincides with rising tensions between the US and China, although officials familiar with the matter told the WSJ that concerns about telecom-network vulnerabilities predate the Trump administration.

US is so committed in this that is promising financial aid to countries to promote telecommunications development if they promise to not rely on the Chinese company's technology. Earlier this year, the United States slapped billions of dollars' worth of tariffs on Chinese goods.

The US has also tightened up foreign-investment rules targeting Chinese deal making and its major allies are starting to come on board.

This comes in a period when United States and China are engaged in a long commercial battle, and after the whole fiasco involving the Chinese firm ZTE and its violation of sanctions.
