Manny Machado called out after 'dirty' play

The bottom of the 10th inning of Game 4 of the National League Championship Series between the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers featured a benches-clearing incident involving Manny Machado and Jesus Aguilar.

Both benches cleared after the incident.

Machado, who scored the winning run in the 13th inning of the Dodgers' 2-1 victory, told reporters after the game: "If that's dirty, that's dirty".

He made two questionable slides into second base in game three, the second one deemed a violation of the slide interference rule when he grabbed at Brewers shortstop Orlando Arcia.

Aguilar left his foot on the base for a moment after Machado was already out, and the star shortstop appeared to show his displeasure by bringing his left foot forward and kicking Aguilar on the back of the leg.

The Los Angeles Dodgers won a thrilling Game 4 of the NLCS with a walk-off single in the 13th inning to even the series, 2-2, but it was a routine groundout in the tenth inning that most people were talking about after the game.

It irritated Brewers players so much that superstar outfielder Christian Yelich came out after the game to say that it was a "dirty play by a dirty player".

"If that's dirty, that's dirty", Machado said, according to "I guess they got tangled up at first base". "I try to go out there and win for my team". After the game Tuesday night, Machado tried to play innocent, saying, "You saw the replay, probably, I was trying to get over him and hit his foot".

"I don't think we're too concerned about any other teams' comments about our players", Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday before Game 5.

As for the drama Machado's been entangled in throughout the series. we asked if the beanball he took Wednesday will end the drama. "I don't know. Call it what you want".

Travis Shaw was among the players who joined Yelich in calling Machado "dirty" in his play.
