Cyclone Leslie battered Portugal and Spain this weekend, bringing 100-mph winds and heavy rain to Lisbon, the Portuguese capital.

Hurricane-force winds have brought down hundreds of trees and left more than 15,000 homes without power in Portugal.

Winds from Leslie, which strengthened from a tropical storm to a Category 1 hurricane earlier this week, weakened slightly below the threshold for a Category 1 storm Saturday with maximum sustained winds of 70 miles per hour.

On the forecast track, the center of Leslie will pass north of Madeira Island on Saturday, and approach the southwestern portion of the Iberian Peninsula on Saturday night, and move inland over portions of the Iberian Peninsula on Sunday.
