The first look photo of the actress as the iconic Batwoman debuted on October 9, and Ruby completely transforms into the role of the superhero.

However, her casting was mired in controversy. She quit Twitter after a number of people accused her of not completely fitting the archetype of Batwoman found in recent comics. Once established, Batwoman will receive her own standalone series overseen by Greg Berlanti, and scripted by Caroline Dries. The costume was designed by award-winning costume designer, Colleen Atwood.

Rose will make her debut as Kate Kane/Batwoman in the three-show crossover event between CW's "Arrow", "The Flash" and "Supergirl". She's an "out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city's criminal resurgence". But don't call her a hero yet. The event will mark the introduction of Ruby Rose as Batwoman and the first appearance of Gotham City in the Arrowverse. It'll be interesting to see what happens with this potential couple if The CW picks up the Batwoman series. If everything goes according to plan, Rose will also headline her own Batwoman series as the network is now developing a stand-alone series around the character, too.

There are a few other things we know about the crossover. Others complained about the inclusion of the character in the Arrowverse and her sexuality in general. Her casting still somehow proved controversial to some viewers, and the backlash caused Rose to leave social media.
