It looks like Khabib Nurmagomedov got the first of what could be many hero's welcomes in his native Dagestan.

Nurmagomedov made McGregor tap out during Saturday's UFC 229 main event, but instead of celebrating his accomplishment, the Russian fighter sparked a big post-fight melee when he leapt over the cage and jumped into the crowd, while members from his corner entered the octagon and attacked McGregor. Moments after standing over a beaten McGregor, the UFC lightweight champion stunned everyone when he scaled the cage wall and flew into a rage. His target was McGregor's team-mate Dillon Danis and security piled in just as one of Khabib's entourage jumped the cage to punch McGregor in the back of the head. He and a group of people illegally entered the venue for the event and attacked a bus in an attempt to get to Nurmagomedov in retaliation for him confronting McGregor's friend and teammate Artem Lobov. McGregor tweeted after the fight that he was "looking forward to the rematch", too.

The NSAC, however, quickly deemed his actions did not warrant freezing his paycheck.

White said any other UFC fighters involved in the brawl would not fight in the organisation again.

After the melee, UFC president Dana White said the three men who attacked McGregor had been arrested, but Las Vegas police reported no arrests stemming from the incident, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "I love watching him fight".

However, more than 50 people - mostly men and mostly from the Greater Dublin Area - were not allowed to travel to the so-called Sin City, in the western U.S. state of Nevada, to see the action for themselves. "I know my father's gonna smash me when I go home", he said at the post-fight press conference. "They are withholding Khabib's purse, they are not withholding Conor McGregor's". "Conor was more concerned about the fight [he lost]", White said.

Both fighters have had the finger waved at them for being the one to blame for what happened.
