TOM GOLDMAN, BYLINE: Two things we haven't seen in a long time - Tiger Woods in his traditional Sunday red shirt and black trousers tapped in a tournament-clinching putt yesterday - his last win was in 2013 - and then the goose bump moment right before.

Woods' last two years have been maligned by a host of surgeries that attempted to correct back and nerve pain. But Woods flew into France on Monday restored to greatness.

"It's certainly up there with obviously all the major championships I've won, Players, World Golf Championships", Woods said, at once elated and reflective in his post-round press conference.

"I believe this time Tiger Woods will be a definite asset", Europe's 2014-winning captain Paul McGinley said at the weekend.

"I think back of 14 is where I just sort of had this gut-check moment really", Rose explained to media after winning the season-long award. They felt it, that atmosphere. "They have been positive and they have been great, and he knows what he's doing and he's in a good place". It is also the 80th tour victory - two short of Sam Sneed's all-time record - in Tiger's illustrious career which began in 1996.

Woods has a losing record in his seven Ryder Cup appearances, with 17 defeats in match-ups compared to 13 wins and three halves. 'I said, yeah, I just didn't have the tight trousers and the hair.

Despite all the turmoil, many female golfers, including me, have impatiently awaited his revival.

They whooped; they cried out "Tiger!"; they held their cell phones aloft to capture themselves as hapless event staffers failed to do the same.

"So, they have to take that opportunity to go out and show that it is not all just dreams, it is reality, and go out and live those dreams".

"The fans and the commotion was similar to 1997 at the Western Open coming down the last hole". "My eyes started tearing up a little bit. But not to this fevered pitch".

It does not matter that no other eyewitness can even confirm that Judge Kavanaugh was at the party in question. Kavanaugh says the event "did not happen" and that the allegation is "a smear, plain and simple".

After the win, Woods fought back tears as he reflected on his historic victory.

Bjorn told Sky Sports: "I am pretty set in my mind, to be honest".

"Once I got the ball onto the green, then the tournament was over". "I don't know, 20 years ago, hell, I thought I was going to play for another 30 years". I just can't believe I've pulled this off. And so - I was beyond playing. I couldn't lay down without feeling the pain in my back and my leg.

Rose faded late but received a $10 million consolation prize in the form of the FedExCup, which is awarded to the victor of the tour's season-long points race, after a birdie at the 18th gave him a 73 for a share of fourth.

"Forget the elite level. And then lo and behold, I'm able to do this and win a golf tournament". A comeback seemed highly unlikely.
