US Judge Brett Kavanaugh shakes hands with US President Donald Trump after being nominated to the Supreme Court in the East Room of the White House on 9 July, 2018 in Washington, DC.

But sources close to Ford say that she may still not agree to the Senate committee's primary request: that she testify about Kavanaugh's alleged sexual misconduct under oath.

Earlier Sunday, Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said lawyers for Ford are contesting two GOP conditions - that Ford and Kavanaugh will be the only witnesses and that an independent counsel will ask the questions.

The Senate Judiciary Committee had delayed a vote on Mr Kavanaugh's confirmation after Ms Ford's allegations emerged last week.

"Unless there's something more, no I'm not going to ruin Judge Kavanaugh's life over this", Graham said.

Republicans, eager to move rapidly with Kavanaugh's nomination in an attempt to consolidate conservative control of the supreme court, want the hearing to take place on Monday.

Kavanaugh's team, the Times reported, acknowledge that the calendars don't disprove Blasey Ford's claim. "I want to listen to Dr. Trump broke his silence to cast doubt on Ford's story Friday in ways Republicans had been carefully trying to avoid.

Earlier, the panel had given the California professor until 2:30 pm (1830 GMT) to decide whether to appear, after she rejected a Friday evening deadline imposed by the committee's Republican leader, Chuck Grassley.

Dr Ford's attorney Debra Katz said, in a letter to the committee today, that her client had accepted the request, but wanted to "continue our negotiations" on the details.

Ford says an inebriated Kavanaugh pinned her on a bed, muffled her cries and tried removing her clothes when both were teenagers in the 1980s.

"With all the extensions we give Dr. Ford to decide if she still wants to testify to the Senate I feel like I'm playing 2nd trombone in the judiciary orchestra and Schumer is the conductor", he said.

The White House is approaching Ford's potential testimony with trepidation, nervous that an emotional performance might not just damage Kavanaugh's chances but could further energize female voters to turn out against Republicans in November.

"In the very near future, Judge Kavanaugh will be on the Supreme Court", McConnell said at the Values Voter Summit on Friday.

Teased by his clear eye for goal, the Old Trafford faithful will be hoping he can begin to find the net more regularly. However, on return for the second half, Portuguese star Joao Moutinho equalised for his side after just eight minutes.

"I want to listen to her, but I'm being honest with you and everybody else. What am I supposed to do?"

In their statement, Ford's attorneys said that lawmakers had "refused to invite other witnesses who are essential for a fair hearing that arrives at the truth about the sexual assault".

The Judiciary panel's top Democrat expressed fury at Grassley's negotiating position with Ford and maintained Democrats' effort to build the battle into a larger election-year question about the treatment of women.

Trump and the White House had been careful not to malign Ford after her allegations surfaced, but Trump dropped the restraint in his tweets on Friday.

The person says that lawyers for Christine Blasey Ford and bipartisan representatives of the committee came to the tentative agreement Saturday. And so we are left basically with he-said, she-said. Kavanaugh strongly denies the allegations and has said he is eager to speak to the committee.

Grassley rebuffed other Ford requests, including calling additional witnesses. They have become a walking advertisement for Democratic Senate candidates ("Can you believe these clowns?" would be an apt bumper sticker) and an embarrassment to their own operatives who see the Kavanaugh confirmation hanging by a thread.

She was treated by a doctor who was on a nearby boat, before being flown to hospital and undergoing surgery. Meanwhile, a Tasmanian tourist remains in a critical condition in hospital following yesterday's attack.

After Grassley set a hearing for Monday, Democrats demanded a delay to allow time for the FBI to investigate Ford's claim.
