Three more rivers are expected to swell to critical levels by Thursday as water begins flowing downstream toward the coast.

Some 2,600 people have been rescued by boat or helicopter in North Carolina alone since the storm made landfall, and about 10,000 people remain in shelters, according to state officials. Early farm reports confirm pre-storm worries about losses to tobacco, cotton and corn crops. "Same levee. Same dams".
