5 people, including 3 infants, stabbed at NYC day care

Police in NY say at least five people, including three infants, have been stabbed at an overnight day care centre in Queens.

Crews removed four other children from the home for observation. The injuries were not considered to be life threatening, police said.

The victims and their assailant were rushed to a hospital, where one of the girls was listed in serious condition. The woman hurt was a worker at the daycare, officials said.

Authorities were called at about 3:40 a.m.to residence serving as a day care on 161st Street between 45th and 43rd Avenues in Flushing.

A 52-year-old woman, now in police custody at a hospital, was found in the daycare basement with what police believe was a self-inflicted cut to the wrist. It's unclear whether it was a legal child care facility.
