In the weeks following the announcement that the Old Country for Old Men star would be playing the role, fans set their minds to developing various pieces of fan art imagining what his Joker would look like. It is the complete opposite of the version that Jared Leto gave to fans, but that look was over-the-top and also turned many fans off.

In a recent interview with Collider, Phoenix promised that the new film defies the convention of a typical comic book movie. It is worth noting that this film will not be associated with the DC film universe.
