Pressley joins a growing slate of minority women Democrats running in the November 6 midterm elections, including New York's Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who scored a similar upset over a long-time incumbent, and Minnesota state Representative Ilhan Omar, set to become the first Muslim woman elected to Congress.

Pressley challenged Capuano, who has been in Congress since 1998, from the left, and the race drew comparisons to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's upset victory over Congressman Joe Crowley - particularly after Ocasio-Cortez endorsed Pressley.

Capuano is considered one of the most liberal members of the MA delegation, and Pressley had acknowledged she had few major policy quarrels with him.

The Dorchester resident Carla Monteiro, 35, voted for Pressley because, she said, she felt a strong connection to her history, and felt Pressley had a record of making change.

Four of those sides were crowned champions, but Sarri was in no mood to indulge talk of the title so early in the season. Maybe he needs more space, but I am lucky because, in this situation, Giroud is very useful".

In a surprise defeat that reflects a changing Democratic party, Boston City Council member Ayanna Pressley has defeated 10-term Democratic Rep. Mike Capuano in Massachusetts' 7th Congressional District. "These are the kind of factors that Democrats need to have over the next two months if they are going to pull off victories in some of those really competitive races". Her father, Martin Pressley spent much of her childhood in jail. There are no Republicans on the November ballot.

The 7th District encompasses Boston's residential neighborhoods and its surrounding suburbs, with large Hispanic, black and Asian populations, and is the state's only majority-minority district. As FiveThirtyEight reports, a MA candidate has followed in the footsteps of the young Ocasio-Cortez with a surprising upset against a mainstream Democrat challenger on Tuesday evening.

Quentin Palfrey has won the Democratic primary for lieutenant governor in MA, ending comic Jimmy Tingle's bid to shift from political humor to political office.

Pressley will now represent the seat that in earlier forms was held by John F. Kennedy and Tip O'Neill.

Pallett then, as fans of the show pointed out, holds her right side as if in pain even though Thomas tapped her on the left side. Thomas, 34, said there was no "malice" in his actions, with some viewers arguing that the incident was only play-fighting.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Massachusetts Democrat, cheered the outcome on Twitter on Tuesday night.

The Florida contest immediately took on racial overtones after Republican U.S. Congressman Ron DeSantis, who is white, urged voters not to "monkey this up" by voting for Gillum, who is black.
