NASA says the best time to see the shower is between 2 a.m. and dawn local time-but the shower will be visible as early as 9 p.m.

"The shower is the result of Earth encountering the gritty debris of Comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle", Boyle said. "The meteorites from the comet's trail appear to come from the constellation Perseus, which lends the shower its name", Space.com reports.
