"However, the US responded to our expectation by inciting worldwide sanctions and pressure against the DPRK". North Korea also accused unidentified high-level USA officials of "going against the intention of President Trump" by "making baseless allegations against us and making desperate attempts at intensifying the global sanctions and pressure".

North Korea on Thursday accused the United States of acting in bad faith, saying Washington's push for full sanctions pressure against Pyongyang would stall progress on the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.

U.S. President Donald Trump holds up the document that he and North Korea leader Kim Jong Un had signed at the Capella resort on Sentosa Island, June 12, 2018, in Singapore.

The two Koreas, who agreed to increase sports exchanges at a landmark summit between the South's President Moon Jae-in and the North's leader Kim Jong-un in April, held a friendly basketball match in Pyongyang last month.

The players have been in talks with owner Mike Ashley during pre-season to agree this year's bonus scheme. Now a tough early-season fixture list means it will be hard to muster a good start.

The foreign ministry said that despite their efforts to work with the US - by stopping their missile launches and nuclear tests - America continues to insist on "denuclearization first", and continues to encourage global sanctions against the North.

With such moves, "one can not expect any progress in the implementation of North Korea-US joint statement including the denuclearization, and furthermore, there is no guarantee that the hard-won atmosphere of stability on the Korean Peninsula will continue", said the spokesperson.

The rival Koreas may try to seek a breakthrough amid what experts see as little progress on nuclear disarmaments between Pyongyang and Washington despite the Singapore summit in June and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's several visits to North Korea.

National security adviser John Bolton earlier this week said North Korea had not begun the progress, while USA envoy to the UN, Nikki Haley, said Washington was "not willing to wait for too long" for the North.

The Hamas website Safa said Friday this marks the first time all members of the political bureau have come together in Gaza. The vessel was taken to the Israeli port of Ashdod, while the crew were detained for "further enquiry".

But Washington has urged the worldwide community to maintain maximum sanctions pressure, even suggesting tougher economic measures, in a bid to compel Pyongyang to give up its nuclear weapons.

The White House and State Department did not immediately return requests for comment.

"The U.S. should, even at this belated time, respond to our honest efforts in a corresponding manner", North Korea added in its statement.

"In the current situation, friendly countries should develop their relations and cooperation in (the) global community", he said, adding Iran and North Korea have "always had close views" on many issues.

Fears that Chinese demand could taper fuelled the pullback on Friday after state oil major Sinopec cut its purchases of USA crude. In the previous week, total USA inventories rose 3.8 million barrels, while supplies at Cushing fell 1.3 million barrels.

Officials said they were also looking into whether any of the 14 vessels that transported North Korean coal violated sanctions banning such shipments.
