The annual awards show usually runs over three hours, with the longest show clocking in at four hours and 20 minutes minutes in 2002. This is likely to get out of the way of some of the other awards ceremonies that take place around that time. For comparison, last year's ceremony aired in early March and the upcoming 2019 show is set for February 24.

Essentially, with these changes, the Oscars are looking to become more like the MTV Movie Awards, and that's a damn shame.

The Academy's board of governors has approved several changes for next year's Oscars, and among them is the introduction of a new category. They're scooching up the broadcast a couple weeks earlier in February - but not until the 2020 telecast.

Bailey is beginning his second term as president and his fifteenth year as a governor representing the Cinematographers Branch.

Rick Gates, testifying in Manafort trial, admits to affair, London apartment
Gates (46) admitted he had embezzled from other employers; he had volunteered the information once he began cooperating. That testimony probably explains one of the minor mysteries of the first week of the Manafort trial.

The board of governors announced the changes in a letter to academy members after the board's Tuesday meeting.

We are committed to producing an entertaining show in three hours, delivering a more accessible Oscars for our viewers worldwide.

On top of that, in a bid to keep things interesting and moving, the 3-hour telecast will now only present select categories live, while other winners will be handed out during commercial breaks. Edited versions of the awards given out during the breaks will air later in the broadcast.

It also announced that presentation would be aired at a much earlier date than expected, in February 2020. The date change will not affect awards eligibility dates or the voting process.

The players have been in talks with owner Mike Ashley during pre-season to agree this year's bonus scheme. Now a tough early-season fixture list means it will be hard to muster a good start.

The 2019 Oscars will look a little different. It is not known which will be cut, nor what he eligibility criteria for the new popular film award will be. As THR points out, the most successful movies at the box office each year are rarely represented in the main categories and usually have to make do with technical awards.

- Atlee Northmore (@southless95)I hope you will still telecast ALL categories including shorts. "The Last Fall" director Matthew A. Cherry agreed "Black Panther" is a shoe-in, while adding that he'd like to see the Academy add a best stunt race, too.

- Luis Carlos G Mtz (@LuisCarlosGMtz1)does this mean it's being shortened AND it won't be live?

Criticised in the past for ignoring blockbusters and genre films, the move will hopefully mean a more balanced view of the American film industry - although the Best Picture nominations are unlikely to change.

The 25 percent duty would be applied to the proposed list of $200 billion of Chinese products announced on July 10. So far this year, the trade gap is up more than 7 percent from January-June 2017.
