Special Counsel Robert Mueller is examining whether Trump campaign members coordinated with Russian Federation to sway the White House race in his favor.

At the time, in July 2017, Trump offered a similar comment to the one he made on Sunday, dismissing the meeting with a Russian lawyer promising dirt on his political opponent as no big deal. It's the very talking point the president and his aides settled on more than a year ago, after their initial claim that the meeting was just about adoptions didn't hold up. At the center of the session: Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya and others with Russia connections. The self-contradictory and legally questionable nature of Trump's claims prompted his own advisers to beg him to stop tweeting about the incident.

It is illegal for a campaign to accept help from a foreign person or government. Trump tweeted, igniting further controversy on just how much, and if at all, he and his campaign had colluded with Russian Federation.

And if you're Robert Mueller and you're looking at whether Trump obstructed justice, you've now got even more evidence of a clear attempt to mislead the public and obscure the truth. Trump's lawyers - who are not in favor of any interview despite the President saying he wants to set the record straight with special counsel - are seeking to limit the interview to collusion topics. But there are potential criminal concerns as well.

It is common for United States politicians to research their opponents during a campaign.

And he raged against the media's obsession with his links to Russian Federation and the status of Michael Cohen, his former fixer, who is under federal investigation in NY.

Saudi's July oil output at around 10.290 mln bpd - OPEC sources
Fears that Chinese demand could taper fuelled the pullback on Friday after state oil major Sinopec cut its purchases of USA crude. In the previous week, total USA inventories rose 3.8 million barrels, while supplies at Cushing fell 1.3 million barrels.

Trump has repeatedly expressed his desire to shut down the Mueller investigation. "Anybody who says they know is just guessing".

When news of the meeting surfaced more than a year ago, Trump dictated a statement sent out under his son's name claiming that the meeting was devoted to a discussion of worldwide adoption policies. The statement does not mention that he was promised damaging information about Clinton.

Quickly, though, that explanation fell apart, and we learned that Trump Jr had actually been promised harmful information about Democrats, including Hillary Clinton.

So Trump's attorneys are both anxious about Trump perjuring himself, and so confident that his private statements would match his public comments that an interview is unnecessary.

KEITH: Both. Obviously if you are investigating Russian interference in the presidential election and you have actual Russian agents at Trump Tower meeting with a presidential campaign, the Trump campaign, that is something that investigators would want to explore.

He later admitted he accepted the meeting with Veselnitskaya in hopes of obtaining damaging information on Clinton, but said nothing came of it.

The CNN interview aired on Monday, after James opened his school for disadvantaged children in his hometown of Akron, Ohio . In June, James said of Trump that "it's a lot of things that we believe in as Americans that we don't feel that he's for".

A decision about whether he sits for an interview with Mueller may also occur in the coming weeks, according to another one of his attorneys, Rudy Giuliani. File Photo by REUTERS/Carlos Barria. Any legal battle over whether the president can be compelled to testify could go all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, the lawyer, Jay Sekulow, said on ABC's "This Week".

President Trump's lawyer now admits he was wrong to say that. Dowd subsequently resigned from the Trump team.

"I don't represent Don Jr.", Sekulow said, "but I will tell you I have no knowledge at all of Don Jr. being told that he's a target of any investigation, and I have no knowledge of him being interviewed by the special counsel".

'This was a meeting to get information on an opponent, totally legal and done all the time in politics - and it went nowhere.

He concluded by further distancing himself from the meeting his son arranged, writing, "I did not know about it!"

Lawmakers would also be able to punt questions about what action, if any, Congress should take in response to the special prosecutor's conclusions. He told the committee that he didn't alert his father to the meeting beforehand.
