President Trump said Tuesday that "collusion is not a crime" - echoing the words of his lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani in a series of media interviews the day before - but also reasserted that there had been "no collusion" between his campaign and Russian Federation. "The President didn't hack".

Later, Giuliani phoned in to Fox News seeking to clarify his earlier comments, telling anchor Harris Faulkner that "it's a very, very familiar lawyer's argument that...the alternative, that my client didn't do it, and even if he did, it's not a crime".

He's correct in that the word "collusion" may not be used in any legal textbooks-we must be thinking of "conspiracy".

CNBC reported Giuliani also insisted "collusion is not a crime", even though the president has said there was no collusion.

MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace put the freakish spectacle of Rudy Giuliani's latest media blitz in context Monday, showing how convoluted and twisted President Donald Trump's defenses of his own actions with regard to Russian interference in the 2016 election have become.

Speaking to CNN "New Day" co-host Alisyn Camerota, Giuliani first downplayed the president's relationship with his embroiled former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, who faces charges resulting from the Mueller probe.

President Donald Trump is a man of many catchphrases.

"It seems to me his default position is to lie", Mr Giuliani said of Mr Cohen, who in May he said was an "honest, honourable lawyer".

"Collusion is basically a partnership in crime, which is conspiracy", said Randall Eliason, a former federal prosecutor and a law professor at George Washington University.

Trump has for months said there was "no collusion" between his campaign aides and Russian Federation and that as president he did not attempt to block Mueller's probe.

While collusion is not a technical legal charge, Mueller is probing any coordination between the Russian government and the Trump campaign, and could bring conspiracy charges if he finds that any campaign member worked with Russia to break USA law.

Giuliani also said Mueller has "conflicts of interest".

Russian Federation has denied the finding of United States intelligence agencies previous year that it interfered to sway the election to Trump.

Should Manafort be convicted, the investigation by Mr Mueller could gain some momentum.
