Participating in the debate on no-confidence motion against the NDA government, first since it came to power in 2014, Mr Gandhi's 40-minute speech was disrupted a number of times by noisy protests from treasury benches, a brief adjournment and a dramatic scene when he walked across to shake hands with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hug him.

"After Rahul Gandhi's speech on the no-confidence motion, a massive quake hit Parliament and the Congress president had to take shelter under the strongest pillar of India's politics - Narendra Modi".

Speaking in the Lower House of the Parliament, the Prime Minister said, "I was surprised at Rahul Gandhi's excitement to come and hug me".

Just before he hugged the prime minister, Gandhi said he had no hatred for the BJP - despite, he said, being on the receiving end of their hatred and their abuse, and being called "Pappu".

Taking on Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on Rafale, PM Modi said, "They raised Rafale issue and I was surprised..."

Trump says no 'time limit' on North Korea denuclearisation

"I have not an iota of hatred or hard feelings against you".

"In the past too, those who tried to see eye to eye with you their fate was no different be it Sardar Patel or Subhash Chandra Bose". Soon after his speech in the Lok Sabha during the no-confidence motion debate on Friday, #BhookampAaGaya started trending on Twitter. "The French President (Emmanuel Macron) said that before me".

The Prime Minister also mimicked Rahul Gandhi's wink after the hug, using his hands, and chided him with the phrase: "Bachkani harkat (childish antics)".

Earlier, Rahul, leading the Congress offensive, alleged that the government's deal with France for 36 Rafale fighter jets was massively overpriced and its claim that details could not be revealed was an "untruth".

"A phone call would get loans for their cronies and the nation suffered", Modi said, replying to the debate on the no confidence motion in the Lok Sabha. The contract was taken away from HAL, a PSU, he said.

"I pray to God to give you the strength to bring a no- confidence motion in 2024 also".

The Dainik Jagran said the Bharatiya Janata Party won the majority vote as expected. "My best wishes are with you", PM Modi said.

He not only promised the people of Andhra Pradesh that the Centre would help them with their development goals, but also rejected the charges about unemployment and corruption.

Modi said when the TDP chose to pull out of NDA, he had warned its leader N Chandrababu Naidu that his party was "getting entangled in a race of one-upmanship with the YSR Congress. She destabilised Atal-Ji's government and never formed one herself", he said.

"It was done peacefully". With 451 members present in the House, the half-way mark was 226, which the government reached comfortably.
