As reported by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Klopp has spoken to the 25-year-old on the telephone, presumably to give him various assurances and perhaps a little nudge to sign for Liverpool.

Liverpool have emerged favourites to signing Roma goalkeeper, Becker Alisson ahead of Chelsea.

Should they beat Liverpool to Alisson's signature, it will spell the end for Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge. Real Madrid, another possible suitor, have yet to make contact with Roma.

However, according to fresh claims from the Mirror, Chelsea are willing to gazump Liverpool in their pursuit of Alisson and are prepared to spend a huge sum of £70 million on the Roma star.

He's led the culture that we're trying to create. "It's got to become more hard to get into the senior squad". But Trippier said: "We all love playing for England and there are no egos in this squad.

Sky sources had previously indicated Liverpool had no plans to bid for Alisson this summer, but that was earlier in the window when the Premier League believed the Brazil global was going to Real Madrid.

Liverpool had been deterred from pursing that interest at the start of the summer by Roma's asking price. On-going concerns over Karius' form, however, plus the prospect of a compromise with the Italian club, has prompted a renewed effort to land Klopp's first choice. He was named in last season's UEFA Champions League squad of the season.
