Unfortunately due to their prolonged period inside the damp and dark cave tunnel, numerous boys had lost a substantial amount of weight given their young ages, with some of the soccer players having lost as much as 11 pounds.

"Everyone is healthy, no fever and strong", Piyasakol said in Thai at the press conference Saturday.

In a hospital video recorded Friday, the boys sent messages to well-wishers and started each with a "wai", the traditional Thai greeting with hands raised to chest level and palms together.

"The boys have promised to be good persons to honour Lt-Commander Saman", Jessada said, adding they wrote their condolences on a drawing of Saman and stood in silence. They want the boys to instead relax at their homes for the next month. "The children were well taken care of in the cave".

Now, the very fortunate soccer players and their coach are recovering in hospital according to The New York Post, and are very anxious to be released next week so that they can finally indulge in their very favorite meals.

Thailand's health minister Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn has urged the boys and their families not to give media interviews in case it has a negative impact on their mental health.

The boys, aged between 11 and 16, and the coach, 25, had been trapped in the flooded Than Luang cave system for more than two weeks.

Asked what foods they looked forward to eating, the boys thought of pork ― slow-cooked with rice, fried or roasted ― along with sushi, steak and KFC, CBS News reported. The downpour sent floodwater rushing into the mouth of the cave and cut off their exit route.
