Houston has already lost Trevor Ariza to the Phoenix Suns, and Luc Mbah a Moute to the Los Angeles Clippers this free agency, so they may look to pursue Melo as a replacement.

A league source confirmed the meeting.

Anthony and the Thunder are working towards a buyout though he could also be traded and waived thereafter. The 11-year National Basketball Association journeyman has also played for the Celtics, Timberwolves, Mavericks, Nets, Pacers, Suns and Heat.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Carmelo Anthony has waived his no-trade clause and has begun meeting (with the Thunder's permission) with teams interested in acquiring his services this summer.

In an offseason that was expected to be very quiet for the Heat, signing Anthony would be a fairly welcome surprise. Shortly after, however, ESPN reported the two parties had decided they would go their separate ways.

The Heat can surpass the tax to re-sign Wayne Ellington without using any of those vehicles to sign players. It's far from a sure thing, but it looks like the Rockets are making a push to land the veteran sharpshooter. The Lakers also have been mentioned as a possibility but reportedly have not met with Anthony. He's averaged 24.1 points over 15 National Basketball Association seasons, but winning in the postseason has been one thing Anthony has always struggled to do.

But Anthony has averaged 24.1 points and shot 44.9 percent in 15 National Basketball Association seasons and has been one of the NBA's premier scorers of the past 20 years.

Unfortunately for Anthony, that Big Three didn't work out; things just didn't really click between the three and the Thunder were eliminated in six games by the upstart Utah Jazz in the first round of the playoffs.
