According to the recently released data by the Labor Department, Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club, aka the "Winter White House", has reportedly sought permission from the federal government to hire 40 additional temporary foreign workers to serve as waiters during the winter social season in Palm Beach, Florida.

Mar-a-Lago seeks to hire the 40 foreign waiters and waitresses under the H-2B visa program, which allows American employers to hire foreigners on a seasonal basis if there is not a sufficient supply of qualified Americans.

The president is known to speak about the "Buy American, Hire American" policy on several occasions and has often asked businesses to opt for U.S. workers.

Susan Collins of ME affirmed to reporters Wednesday she will not affirm a nominee with "demonstrated hostility" to Roe v. The prominent Obamacare opponent wrote a Fox News op-ed on Thursday urging the president to appoint conservative Sen.

By BuzzFeed's count, Trump has now tried to hire 240 foreign workers at Mar-a-Lago since he first announced his candidacy for president in June 2015 by calling foreign immigrants rapist and leeches on society. This request comes just over a year after Trump signed his "Buy American and Hire American" executive order. That same week, however, "Mar-a-Lago was applying for foreign worker visas". Furthermore, The New Yorker reported this March, "Since 2010 Mar-a-Lago alone has obtained a total of 500 H-2B visas for seasonal foreign workers". But the base salary for servers rose to $12.68 per hour this year from $11.88 per hour the year before.

Yet Trump's businesses have a history of not hiring American.

Last year, after Trump said there were "very fine people" among violent crowds of protesters in Charlottesville, many of Trump's longtime charity clients quit.

Trump frequently visits Mar-a-Lago from November to May. "But other hotels do the exact same thing". The servers and cooks would work October through May. Apart from many other ramifications, it could blow back on his beloved resort as it majorly relies on foreign workers, a lot of them Haitians, to fill seasonal jobs that Americans apparently don't want.

In 2017, Trump urged employers to "hire American" in his inaugural address before turning around, raising the national cap on H-2 visas issued yearly, and then nearly immediately applying for 76 new foreign-worker jobs at Mar-a-Lago.
