With a single goal, Luis Suarez settled the fate of four teams in the group stage of the World Cup.

The result, though, had a domino effect in Group A. It also put host Russian Federation into the next round while eliminating both Saudi Arabia and Egypt at the same time.

Uruguay can book their place in the knockout phase of the 2018 World Cup on Wednesday if they beat Saudi Arabia.

La Celeste have won both their Group A games, haven't conceded yet and have their main striker among the goals.

Luis Suarez netted the match's only goal in the 23rd minute in his 100th global for Uruguay.

Queiroz said his players deserved huge credit for their battling performance after going down 1-0 to a freak Diego Costa goal and having a score of their own rubbed out after being reviewed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR). He fell back to defend and raced forward alongside Edinson Cavani on the counterattack.

Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard star as Belgium rout Tunisia
Unless Panama beat England in Sunday's Group G match, Belgium will be through with a game to spare while Tunisia will be out. Hazard then ran on to a long pass in the 51st minute, flicked the ball around Ben Mustapha and shot into an empty net.

"We know who we are playing against", Pizzi said.

The World Cup couldn't have begun any differently than it did for Uruguay and Saudi Arabia.

Sides such as Saudi qualify for the World Cup via the Asian Football Confederation and Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia via the Confederation of African Football - an Egyptian fan explained that in football, they are "Arab first, Africans second".

"His sense of responsibility is remarkable", Tabarez said of Suarez.

At his fourth World Cup with Uruguay, the 71-year-old Tabarez is the oldest coach in the tournament, and he reflected on the impact of the game in his home country, a two-time champion with just 3.5 million people.

Saudi Arabia's last outing against the host was nothing less than a horror show, 5-0. Saudis were unable to get real chances, let alone a goal in their first two matches.

Uruguay was the only South American team to win its opening match in a tournament where upsets have been commonplace. We have good ball possession, but no effectiveness.

Suarez and Cavani need to bring their A game and demolish the wounded defense of Saudi Arabia. Abdullah Otayf also makes a start.

Still, the Saudis would at least have walked off the field on Wednesday with their heads held high and they have one more chance for a final hurrah against the Egyptians in their final Group A encounter.

The FIFA World Cup 2018 Uruguay v/s Saudia Arabia match will be played at Rostov Arena Rostov-On-Don.
