Woman held captive saved after slipping note to veterinary employee

A woman allegedly being held captive by her boyfriend slipped a note onto her dog's vet telling them to call the police.

WESH reported that 39-year-old Jeremy Floyd was arrested after authorities said he threatened and beat his live-in girlfriend over the course of two days.

Floyd is charged with domestic violence, aggravated assault with a firearm, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and simple battery. Authorities say the woman was beaten and held captive for two days at gunpoint by her boyfriend, and escaped when she convinced him bring their dog to the animal hospital, where she slipped the note to a staff member. He physically stopped her from leaving their home, deputies said. But when they arrived, she slipped a note to the staff and begged them to call police because she was in danger and her boyfriend was armed, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday. The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports 39-year-old Jeremy Floyd was arrested at DeLand Animal Hospital. Floyd is a convicted felon, according to the sheriff's office. On the drive to the animal hospital, she says Floyd again threatened to kill her. "Please don't let him know".

The woman was taken to the hospital and treated for her injuries that included a head wound, a black eye and bruises, according to the sheriff's office.

Volusia County sheriff's deputies responded because the domestic violence crimes took place at the couple's home in the 900 block of South Amelia Avenue, in the county.

He is being held in the Volusia County Branch Jail with no bail.
