Kristen Stewart goes barefoot at Cannes

After strutting down the red carpet in a handsome silver dress, she stopped midway and removed her heels and chose to walk up the stairs barefoot.

The actress posed in a vintage Chanel silver skirt and top that she completed with a pair of sky-high black Christian Louboutin heels.

In 2015, the festival faced a huge backlash after it was revealed that a group of women had been turned away from a screening of the film Carol for opting to don flat shoes.

But, as it started to rain, Kristen headed toward the stairs removing her heels in order to get there a little quicker.

Kristen Stewart told the Hollywood Reporter a year ago:"If you're not asking guys to wear heels and a dress, you can not ask me either".

"I feel like you can't ask people that any more - it's a given. I understand the whole theme with black ties, but we need to allow women to walk without heels".
