Real Madrid and Liverpool both survived second leg scares to set the stage for a blockbuster Champions League final. Real, out of sight in La Liga, were outplayed by Bayern for much of the tie, with the Germans reeling off 39 shots across the two games to their 16.

Real will face the victor of Wednesday's semi-final second leg between Roma and Liverpool in Kiev later this month.

"Nothing is easy. Football is like that, you have to suffer". Kimmich had given Bayern the lead but Benzema soon cancelled the goal out and the Frenchman put Madrid 2-1up just after the break following a clanger from keeper Sven Ulreich.

Real, and Zidane, are now on the brink of a third consecutive Champions League triumph, and 13th overall in Europe's premier tournament.

"We really wanted to go to the final, we did our best and then this unnecessary mistake happened - I can not explain it".

"We dominated. They should thank (goalkeeper Keylor) Navas for his performance, especially toward the end of the match".

Zinedine Zidane's side are no stranger to European finals, with Zinedine Zidane reaching the final in each of the last three seasons.

Kimmich had given Bayern the lead after 28 minutes at the Allianz Arena and here he did it in three, slamming home after Sergio Ramos poked Corentin Tolisso's cross straight to his feet. "He has got two and he has given us the chance to go through".

It was an eerily similar start to Madrid's match against Juventus, when it conceded in the second minute while trying to protect a 3-0 first-leg advantage.

Zidane sprung a surprise by dropping Casemiro to the bench and bringing the more mobile Mateo Kovacic into midfield while Lucas Vazquez played in the unfamiliar role of right back. He had scored only once in his last 12 appearances in all competitions.

Is Justify a Triple Crown threat? Hold your horses
Justify may very well turn out to be just like Curlin, not quite up to task for the Derby but an eventual Horse of the Year. There's the Horse or Horses Who Didn't Race at Two, thus we must hear how nobody has done it since Apollo in 1882.
