LAS VEGAS - Two days after opening the second round with their worst game of the playoffs, the San Jose Sharks responded with a gritty performance.

After Wednesday's dominant win in Game 4, several Sharks spoke about how they felt they were getting better with each passing game of their second-round series with the Golden Knights.

His players weren't trotting out the hollow cliches about moral victories either.

The rookie scored two goals for the Golden Knights - his third and fourth of the playoffs - to assist them to a 4-0 lead early in the third period. Defensively, the San Jose Sharks are allowing 2.8 goals per game and are killing 84.8 percent of their opponents power plays. Aaron Dell came on and stopped all six shots he faced. Conversely, in Games 2 and 4, Marchessault couldn't crack the Sharks' defense, and not coincidentally, those were the two games Vegas lost. Just 32 seconds later Tuch scored for a 2-0 Vegas lead.

Jones made clutch stops earlier in the first on Neal, Ryan Carpenter and William Karlsson, as he ended up stopping 14 of 15 shots in the first period.

"The first 40 minutes, we got nothing", Hertl said.

It the Golden Knights' 7-0 win in Game 1, 11 of their 18 skaters collected at least one point.

"The last three games, we played great", Hertl said. When a team is like that they're going to play their best hockey so we have to recognize that and play our best. "For us, if we're playing against them tonight, try and force them to defend, play in the d-zone".

"They're good lines. they scored a lot in the first game", Sharks center Chris Tierney said Friday morning. Season ticket-holder David Santangelo says people "fall in love" with the team after going to a game.

Vegas' 29 wins at home in the regular season were tied with the Tampa Bay Lightning for third in the National Hockey League, behind the Winnipeg Jets (32) and Pittsburgh Penguins (30). "That's not an accident". Thirty teams tried to figure that out this year, and no one had success. The home teams have an advantage here, as they get the last change at home.

Is Justify a Triple Crown threat? Hold your horses
Justify may very well turn out to be just like Curlin, not quite up to task for the Derby but an eventual Horse of the Year. There's the Horse or Horses Who Didn't Race at Two, thus we must hear how nobody has done it since Apollo in 1882.

But from what we have seen so far, this series is far from over and can very likely return to Sin City for an epic Game 7.

The type of pressure the Sharks had been able to create over the previous three games, when they combined for 123 shots on goal, mostly disappeared in the first two periods when the Sharks only lightly tested Vegas goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, who finished with 27 saves.

Jones, after coming off a superb effort in Game 4, was equally incredible and on two of the first three goals he really had no chance.

But again, the offense came too late. "We stuck with it and even when they scored the second goal I really liked how we were playing". "It's not over yet".

"They came out hard and when you're kind of feeding them that transition game, they'll show you what they can do with it", San Jose centre Joe Pavelski said".
