Israeli forces martyr three more Palestinians

The Israeli military accused Gaza's Hamas leaders of orchestrating what it called a "serious and irregular" attack and said it would not tolerate similar activity in the future.

Three Palestinians have been killed and more than 600 injured after Israeli troops opened fire amid fresh violence on the Gaza border.

Palestinians converged on the Gaza border with Israel for a fifth round of weekly protests Friday, some throwing stones and burning tires, as a top United Nations official urged Israel to refrain from using excessive force against them. But in a published interview on Thursday, Lieberman said Israel did not do it.

Paramedics in Gaza have also told Amnesty staff of difficulties evacuating injured protesters due to the Israeli army firing tear gas canisters at them.

Gaza Strip was shaken by seven weeks of clashes in the summer of 2014 between Israeli forces and Palestinians.

Video footage showed a young Palestinian man placing a burning tire along the fence in an apparent attempt to set it on fire.

The authors begin by presenting an image of an Israeli state, equipped with the most advanced military equipment on the planet, besieged on all sides by a virtually unarmed population, who, like locusts, have "conjured up the idea of swarming across the barrier".

It added that during the attempt "they hurled explosive devices, hand grenades and firebombs at troops".

Thousands of people, led by Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, are taking part in the funeral of Hamas engineer Fadi al-Batsh in northern Gaza. "Israel's failure to consistently prosecute violations committed by members of its security forces, encourages them to use deadly force against their fellow unarmed human beings, even when they present no threat".

The Palestinian protesters are demanding that refugees be allowed to return to ancestral land now in Israel. Two-thirds of Gaza residents are descendants of refugees who fled or were expelled from properties during the war surrounding Israel's creation in 1948.

Since 30 March 2018, four children have been shot dead by Israeli forces, three of them by a bullet to the head or neck.

"When we are fearless, we are getting closer toward martyrdom, martyrdom, martyrdom", he said. The Israeli military said about 14,000 Gazans had been participating in what it described as "riots", and that some had tried to breach the frontier. Israeli communities are located just a few hundred meters (yards) away.

Owaida is the second teenager killed by Israeli fire recently, following the death of Mohhamed Ayoush, 15, last week.

"The loss of life is deplorable, and the staggering number of injuries caused by live ammunition only confirms the sense that excessive force has been used against demonstrators - not once, not twice, but repeatedly", said Zeid.

In such cases, the rights of the child take primacy over the parents' right to decide what's best for their offspring. Pope Francis tweeted that he was "moved by the death of little Alfie " and that his prayers was with his parents.

Israel's United Nations ambassador, Danny Danon, said Israel is "diligently defending its sovereignty" and accused Zeid of encouraging Hamas' "exploitation of civilians".

However, human rights agencies have been critical of the disproportionate response Israel has had towards the protests.

More than 10,000 people were protesting when soldiers shot live ammunition and tear gas into crowds, Reuters reported.

Israel's foreign ministry had no immediate comment, but the government has consistently said it is protecting its borders and that its troops are following rules of engagement.

Although it is now unclear how impactful the protests are going to be when it comes to creating a long-lasting solution to the conflict plaguing Israel and Palestine, but the large-scale protests that are happening do signify that Palestinians in Gaza are exhausted of being treated like second-class citizens by the Israeli occupation and military forces.

Mourners interrupted Haniyeh several times in applause, chanting "God is Great". Egypt also restricts movement in and out of Gaza on its border. The increasing desperation of broad layers of Gaza youth is a product of both the unbearable conditions facing the more than 1.9 million Palestinians blockaded in what is the largest open-air prison on earth, and the lack of any viable perspective provided by a supposed "two-state solution". The temporary opening is the second this month.
