A woman accused of killing her husband in Minnesota and a woman on Fort Myers Beach appeared in court Monday during an extradition hearing.

She was arrested Thursday on South Padre Island after a restaurant employee recognized her from national news coverage of the manhunt. She always had a smile on her face.

The 56-year-old fugitive was the subject of a national hunt after her husband, David Riess, was found fatally shot last month at their home in Blooming Prairie, Minn.

"He asked her, 'How many people?' and she said, 'No, no, I'm just looking at the menu.' You know and I'm looking at it and I go I know this is the lady", Higginbotham said.

Police also connected Riess to the murder of Pamela Hutchinson, 59, in Fort Myers two weeks ago, saying she was seen on surveillance video driving her auto shortly thereafter.

About 20 minutes later, US Marshals arrested Riess at another restaurant near Dirty Al's, based on Higginbotham's tip.

Both Florida and Minnesota authorities have been given a 10 day window to pick her up and transport her to their state.

Riess is charged with several crimes, including second-degree murder, grand theft of a motor vehicle and criminal use of personal information.

After allegedly killing her husband, Riess headed to Diamond Joe's Casino in Iowa, but was gone by the time authorities arrived. They believe Riess targeted Hutchinson due to their similar appearance and killed her to assume her identity.

Riess was also spotted on CCTV cameras driving up to a Hilton hotel in Ocala before calmly walking through the lobby wearing her alleged victim's hat.

Surveillance footage captured the moment authorities approached Riess and took her into custody.

Riess was arrested in Texas.
