Saudi Arabia intercepts two Houthi ballistic missiles targeting Jazan

The administrative chief of Houthi-controlled northern Yemen was killed in a Saudi-led coalition air raid last week, Houthi-run television reported on Monday.

At least 46 people were wounded in the attack, 30 of them children, the official added.

Khaled al-Nadhri, the top wellness officer in the northern state of Hajja, told The Associated Press on Monday that almost all of the deceased have been women and children who were assembled in one of the tents setup for the wedding party while in the district Bani Qayis.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said a double air strike on the crowded party venue had left a number of dead bodies buried beneath the rubble.

All eyes had been on a handful of moderate Democrats who Republicans are trying to win over, including Manchin, Donnelly, and Sen. He chalked up Democratic opposition to partisan election year politics, and not a statement on Pompeo's qualifications.


The head of al-Jumhouri hospital in Houthi-controlled Hajjah province told Reuters by telephone that the hospital had received 40 bodies, majority torn to pieces, and that 46 people had been injured, including 30 children, in air strikes that hit a wedding gathering.

The Saudi-led coalition's spokesman Colonel Turki al-Malki did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the incident.

Jordan on Friday strongly denounced targeting Saudi Arabia with a ballistic missile that was sacked by Yemen's Houthi militias and shot down by Saudi air defence.

The coalition reported no damage or loss of life from the strikes, the latest in a string of bombardments on Saudi Arabia by the Huthis.

The kingdom's air defenses intercepted another missile targeting the Najran region while another missile fell in a desert area on Sunday.

At the beginning of April, Sammad dubbed 2018 "the year of ballistic excellence", referring to missiles the rebels have fired across the border.

In Yemen today, the Saudis bombed a wedding, killing at least 20 people, including the bride. In October 2016, 140 mourners were killed in an air strike on a house in Sanaa.
