Thousands Evacuated at Berlin Soon after World War II Bomb Is Found

German cities are regularly evacuated over bombs that date back to World War II.

The disposal of the bomb yesterday resulted in evacuation of the train station, the Economy Ministry, a museum and part of a hospital.

Also on Friday, Slovak authorities started evacuating people in the town of Sturovo, near the southern border with Hungary after four World War II bombs were found, according to The Associated Press.

United Kingdom bomb, which is now being defused, was found at Heidestrasse street, after which police ordered all the buildings located within a 800-meter (over 2,600 feet) radius of the explosive to be evacuated, Der Tagesspiegel media outlet reported.

The police say there is no immediate danger from the 500 kg British bomb, which was found on Heidestrasse last Wednesday.
