Puerto Rico Suffers Another Major Power Outage

Some have been without electricity even longer as a result of Hurricane Irma, which brushed past Puerto Rico's northeast coast as a Category 5 storm on September 7 and left 1 million customers without power.

"I have suggested to the Board of @AEEONLINE that they cancel the contract with the Cobra subcontractor that is directly responsible for this power outage", Rossello tweeted. On Wednesday, an excavator used by the contractor hit a transmission line near the south coast.

In March, six months since Hurricane Maria walloped the island, Gov. Rossello said that the electrical grid being put up now will be weaker than the grid that existed before the storm, adding that it could take almost five years for a stronger grid to be built.
