Blizzard warning for McLeod County

Areas on the west fringes of the Twin Cities like Hutchinson and Glencoe could see blizzard conditions.

Snow, freezing rain and high winds were expected through Saturday night, with heavy ice accumulations in parts of MI through Sunday morning.

During the evening and overnight the rain will change over to all snow and track east with the heaviest snow likely along and north of Interstate 70.

Now, National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has placed most Northwest Iowa counties in a Blizzard Warning, as also were the five closest Northeast Nebraska counties and all but a few northern counties South Dakota near the North Dakota border.

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning is in effect from 1 p.m. Friday to 7p.m. Saturday for a good portion of western and central Nebraska.

Travel will be very risky to impossible.
