Uber India Unveils Upgraded App for Drivers, Taking Their Feedback

Editors Note (3-28-2018): Uber and the family of Elaine Herzberg have reached a settlement less than a week after the family retained attorneys for the case, although details of the settlement will remain confidential.

Uber is tackling one issue at a time after one of its autonomous test vehicle collided with and killed a pedestrian outside of Phoenix last month, according to CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the incident.

Two other accomplices were convicted of similar charges, and were sentenced to three years and four years in prison. For her services, patients paid $33 (Sh3300) in a country where the average monthly wage is around $48 (Sh4800).

Uber attested to Jump's utility in its blog post Wednesday, saying the bikes offer a "convenient and environmentally friendly ride that's often faster, especially in dense cities where space is limited and roads can be congested". Terms of the deal were not released. You can reserve, unlock and pay for Jump bikes the same way you hail a ride. The rider gets a code on their smartphone to activate the bike.

Getaround views its vehicle rentals as complementing Uber and Lyft's on-demand rides and helping to move Americans away from private auto ownership.
