Is DACA Dead? Trump Administration Has Approved 55000 Applications This Year

Trump has previously called for the "nuclear option" - changing Senate rules to end the filibuster.

A guest on Sunday's Fox & Friends show, Brandon Judd, head of the National Border Patrol Council union, said illegal immigrants benefit from the "catch and release" program that Trump referenced in his tweet. The $1.3 trillion funding package Congress passed last month included $1.6 billion in border wall spending. Congress also put restrictions on the types of barriers that can be built.

While President Donald Trump has said illegal immigrants heading toward the United States are trying to take advantage of an Obama-era policy that shields certain people from deportation, the program known as DACA is actually not open to new entrants. "They want in on the act!"

What is particularly startling about Trump's comments this weekend is that he suggests that people are coming to the United States without authorization to take advantage of the DACA program. The Obama administration allowed signups during a set period of time, and the program is closed to new entrants. The Department of Homeland Security and White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Government's sugar tax comes into force
Sugar is embedded into a surprisingly large number of processed foods , popping up in most things you'll find on the shelves. We're delighted that the soft drinks industry have risen to the challenge and taken tonnes of sugar out of their products.

"Remember, today is Easter Sunday", Kasich added.

US President Donald Trump's administration was pursuing another legislative push on immigration, the White House said without giving any further details.

"'Caravans' coming. Republicans must go to Nuclear Option to pass tough laws NOW".

In recent Twits over the weekend, the occupant of the White House demanded a change in the Senate's rules to eliminate filibustering and approve laws with a simple majority of 51 votes of 100 seats in the Upper House, instead of the 60 votes that are needed at present. The $1.3 trillion funding package included $1.6 billion in border wall spending, but much of that money can be used only to fix existing segments, not to build new sections.

China tit-for-tat tariffs fuel trade war fears
On Wednesday, Facebook closed with a small decline, but other big tech names such as Apple and Microsoft closed higher. Minnesota alone exports more than $2 billion in soybeans annually, with China as the state's top export market.

Hard to believe as it may be, there are people who claim to have been surprised by the erratic Trump's tweeter storm and his disregard for the fate of hundreds of thousands of young people who, except for lacking "papers", are better Americans than the president himself.

These “Stations of the Cross” migrant caravans have been held in southern Mexico for at least the last five years.

The MSM and social media presentation of the latest caravan as a group of desperate, bedraggled migrants just looking for a safe port in the US, is disingenuous at best. They began as short processions of migrants, some dressed in biblical garb and carrying crosses, as an Easter-season protest against the kidnappings, extortion, beatings and killings suffered by many Central American migrants as they cross Mexico. Under current law, unaccompanied children from countries that dont border the USA are turned over to the Department of Health and Human Services and undergo often lengthy deportation proceedings before an immigration judge instead of being immediately deported.

In the town of Ixtepec, more than 1,500 men, women and children from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala waited in a sweltering warehouse on Saturday, mattresses rolled and bags packed, as local authorities and immigration officials from Mexico's federal government organized 15 buses to take them to their next stop on the long journey north.

The caravan now headed to the U.S.is not made up of migrants looking for a better way of life for their families. Mexican immigration officers have been signing them up for temporary transit visas, which would allow them to travel to the USA border, possibly to seek asylum, or to seek asylum status in Mexico.
