International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach, made the announcement earlier Saturday following a meeting with the rogue regime's leader in Pyongyang.

The German met with Kim for a formal 30 minute meeting and the duo also informally spoke while watching a football match at May Day Stadium in capital city Pyongyang.

It was during that meeting that the two Koreas agreed to march as one team under the unified flag of the Korean Peninsula during the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games.

Last month's Winter Olympics in South Korea saw competitors from the two countries march together at the opening ceremony and field a joint women's ice hockey team.

Winning $521M Mega Millions ticket sold in New Jersey
The grand prize has rolled higher since it was last won on Jan 5 at US$451 million by a 20-year-old Florida man, the lottery said. Friday night's drawing also produced two $1 million winning tickets, where players in OH and Texas matched all five white balls.

The IOC described those developments a "message of peace from the Korean Peninsula to the world" on its website.

Both the North and South have hailed the Pyeongchang games as a significant step toward easing tensions on the Korean Peninsula that reached dangerously high levels previous year as the North stepped up its missile tests and detonated its largest nuclear device to date.

In line with the decisions reached at the January 20 meeting, the North not only sent Olympic athletes but also a cheerleading squad and an arts troupe, easing military tensions and paving the way for inter-Korea talks. Kim is to meet with South Korean President Moon Jae-in on April 27. Kim Yo-jong became the first Kim family member ever to come to the South.

Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) met North Korean leader Korea Kim Jong Un on Saturday to express his gratitude for North Korea's contribution in the 23rd Winter Olympics that took place at Pyeongchang, as reported by the North Korean state media Korean Central News Agency.

"This commitment was fully supported by the supreme leader of the DPRK in a very open and fruitful discussion I had with him yesterday", Bach said, using the acronym for the official name for North Korea.

Speaking to reporters at Beijing airport upon his return, Bach said North Korea will participate in the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo and the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing.

The IOC said in a statement Bach's visit is "part of the close cooperation and consultations the IOC enjoys with all of the 206 national Olympic committees". Kim is to meet US President Donald Trump by May, though the exact date and location of that summit have not been announced.
